Privacy policy
The short version: CarouselMac has no analytics and no tracking. Your windows, layout and settings never leave your Mac. We only keep what we need to sell you a license and keep it working.
CarouselMac is made by Christopher Mayberry, a sole proprietor in Texas, USA ("we", "us"). This policy covers the CarouselMac app and carouselmac.com.
What the app does on your Mac
- Accessibility permission is used only to move and resize your windows. CarouselMac doesn't record keystrokes or read the contents of your windows.
- Screen Recording permission is optional and only used for live previews in Overview. Snapshots are made on your Mac while Overview is open and are never saved or sent anywhere.
- Your window layout, app order and settings are stored on your Mac only.
What we collect
- When you buy: your email address and the purchase details from our payment processor, Stripe. Stripe handles your card details; we never see or store them.
- When you activate: your license key, an anonymous ID for your Mac (a one-way hash of its hardware ID, which can't be traced back to you), and your Mac's name, so you can see and manage which Macs use your license.
- Now and then: the app checks your license with our server, roughly once a week, sending the same license details.
- Server logs: like most websites, our server briefly records IP addresses to keep it secure and stop abuse, such as too many activation attempts.
- Emails: we only send news about updates and new apps if you tick the box asking for it. You can unsubscribe at any time.
How we use it
To process your purchase, deliver and recover your license key, activate and manage your Macs, provide support, prevent fraud, and send optional news if you asked for it. We don't sell your information or share it for advertising.
Who else handles it
- Stripe processes payments and may act as the reseller of your purchase. See Stripe's privacy policy at stripe.com/privacy.
- Our web host stores the license database on servers in the United States.
How long we keep it
We keep purchase and license records for as long as your license exists and as required for tax and accounting. Activation records are removed when you deactivate a Mac.
Your choices
You can ask us to see, correct or delete your information by emailing support@carouselmac.com. Deleting your purchase record also ends your license. CarouselMac isn't directed at children under 13.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date above, and for significant changes we'll let customers know by email.
